HIMYM Episode Reviews: Season 1 Episode 4: Return of the Shirt

Summary
Ted rediscovers an old shirt he suddenly likes. He decides he likes things he previously disliked, and decides to apply this his dating life. He goes after his ex-girlfriend Natalie, who he broke up with on her answering machine on her birthday while the guests at her surprise party listened on. Despite this terrible incident Natalie does get back together with Ted, and they date for three weeks.

Meanwhile Barney pays Robin to say and do funny things during her news broadcasts. This escalates until finally Robin makes a stand after someone she is interviewing tells her how important this is to him. However her "stand" ends up landing her in a pile of horse crap which is far funnier then anything Barney paid Robin to do.

Ted on the other hand realizes that Natalie isn't The One, and decides to break up with her. It's her birthday again though, and she is enraged to the point of beating him up.

Note
Not a great episode really, but it moves the characters along I guess. This is the first time Barney and Robin interact really, with him challenging her to say crazy things on the air and her eventually consenting to do so. This continues Robin's integration into the group, as well as being the very beginning of the Robin-Barney friendship that will evolve throughout the course of the series.

Ranking
5 out 10.

List of 10: 10 Things That Are Better Then I Remembered
In keeping with the list of 10, here are 10 things that are better then I remembered from the first time around.

  1. Season 1 of How I Met Your Mother. (I always thought this season was the weakest, and it might be but it is still really good.)
  2. Going to schol. (Honestly, learning is really under-rated, and if I wasn't so busy being a dumbass I could have enjoyed school a lot more earlier.)
  3. The Wheel of Time Books. (Every time I read them they are better then I remember.)
  4. Comic Books. (I thought they were so lame when I was a kid, but I'm a fan now.)
  5. Visiting museums. (So much less boring then I remembered.)
  6. Code Geass (An awesome anime series everyone should check out.)
  7. Islam (At first I thought Islam was just a pseudo Christian religion, but it's actually quite different and has been very influential on my thoughts of late.)
  8. Soap Operas (I finally learned how funny they are.)
  9. Buffy the Vampire Slayer (It gets better every time.)
  10. Writing (Every time I write I feel better and don't understand why I always put off doing it.)
